Asian Maritime Tourism Conference 2022 held in Ningbo

The Asian Maritime Tourism Conference 2022 was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China on July 13, 2022. The conference is guided by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, including the International Exchange Bureau and cooperation organized the event, together with the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Ningbo Municipal People’s Government. Nearly 200 people attended the conference, including representatives, experts and scholars from the embassies and consulates of Asian countries in China, the ASEAN-China Center, the International Maritime Organization, marine research institutes, think tanks, maritime industry associations, maritime colleges, and culture and tourism departments from 12 Chinese provinces and 8 Chinese coastal cities. Keynote speeches were delivered at the conference, which was followed by panel discussions, site visits and the release of the Ningbo Initiative for the Development of Marine Tourism in Asia.

In Ningbo, there are breathtaking sights everywhere you go. On the evening of July 12, the Coastal Ningbo Culture & Tourism Promotion of the Asia Conference on Marine Tourism 2022 was held in Ningbo with the theme “Follow the Grand Canal, Meet a Seaside Smile – A Literary Tour of Ningbo”. The “Top Ten Views & Tourist Routes” of Ningbo marine tourism have been published for the first time. They include coastal tourism development “one belt, two lakes, three bays and hundreds of islands”, as well as the marine tourism products “Four Elements of the Sea”.

The “Ten Best Views” are: Silk Road Seaport, Grand Canal Start, Eastern Grand Harbor, Front Bay Wetlands, Ningbo Blue Bay, Mt. Mei Green Island, Lake Resort, Asia Sailing Bay, Shipu Fishing Harbor, Stone Forest on the sea. “Top Ten Tourist Routes” include Maritime Silk Road Culture Tour, World Heritage Culture Tour, Modern Coastal Metropolis Tour, Shell Mound Wetlands, Recreational Sea Fishing Tour, Cruise and Yacht Recreational Tour, Education and Aesthetic Recreation Tour, Sports and Fitness Tour, Customs Experience Tour fishing and visiting the islands and the geological charm.

Ningbo, located at the magical intersection of mainland China’s coastline and 30 degrees north latitude, is a coastal city combining the characteristics of water towns and ports. It is the economic center of the south wing of the Yangtze River Delta, a city of nationally renowned history and culture, and among the first group of tourist cities in China. Focusing on the goal of building a modern coastal metropolis and a global city in the center of the ocean, Ningbo strives to harness the connotation of marine culture, making full use of the resource advantages of marine tourism and cultural talents of Song Dynasty culture, and display the cultural and tourism brand image of “NINGBO Ancient Port Peaceful City”. With the tourism brand “Follow the Grand Canal, Meet a Seaside Smile – A Literary Tour of Ningbo”, Ningbo is transformed into a new-era cultural highland and a modern coastal tourist city.

The Cixi Celadon Orchestra performed Peaceful waves Pleasant city, a musical composition inspired by the story of Shanglin Lake in Ningbo, the birthplace of Chinese celadon, which became famous throughout the world thanks to the maritime silk route. The Leisure Diving Training Center awards ceremony also took place.

Two 18-meter rolls depicting the mountains and rivers of Ningbo in 3D animation were exhibited at the event. Scenic Siming of the Song Dynasty demonstrated the landscape and culture of Song Dynasty culture by exquisite scenes such as “Siming Mountains”, “Xuedou Mountain of Buddhism”, “Garden of Literature”, “Exploration of Maritime Silk Culture” and “Taibai Sought Knowledge”. Ningbo Coastal City Tour showcases Ningbo’s unique intangible cultural heritage, including Yue celadon, cannetille embroidery, lacquerware crafts, wood-bone inlay, and Xiangshan fishbone art.
