China’s total import and export value increased by 29.8% in 2021

In December 2021, the Maritime Silk Road (STI) trade index released by the Ningbo Shipping Exchange showed that the import and export trade index was 205.12 points, up by 1.24% from the previous month and up 20.77% year-on-year; the export trade index was 236.07 points, up 4.60% from the previous month, an increase of 20.78% year on year; the import trade index was 173.61 points, down 3.06% month-on-month and up 20.75% year-on-year.

From January to December, the total value of China’s import and export trade was 6047.1 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 29.8 percent. The total export trade value was $3,368.2 billion, an increase of 29.0% year-on-year; the total import trade value was US$2678.9 billion, an increase of 30.0% year-on-year.

China’s trade with the continents
From January to December, the value of import and export trade between China and Asia was $3,064.5 billion, up 27.9% year-on-year, accounting for 50.7 % of the total value of China’s imports and exports. Export trade value was US$1,580.4 billion, up 27.8% year-on-year; the value of import trade was US$1,484.1 billion, up 27.9% year-on-year.

From January to December, the value of imports and exports between China and Europe was $1,177.8 billion, up 29.5% year-on-year, accounting for 19.5% of the total value of China’s imports and exports. Export trade value was US$701.4 billion, up 30.5% year-on-year; the import trade value was 476.4 billion US dollars, up 28.0% year-on-year.

From January to December, the value of import and export trade between China and Africa was $253.0 billion, up 35.1% year-on-year, accounting for 4.2% of the total value of China’s imports and exports. Export trade value was US$148.4 billion, up 29.7% year-on-year; the value of import trade was 104.6 billion US dollars, up 43.6% year-on-year.

From January to December, the value of imports and exports between China and North America was $838.1 billion, an increase of 28.7% year-on-year, accounting for 13.9% of the total value of China’s imports and exports. Export trade value was US$628.3 billion, up 27.1% year-on-year; the import trade value was 209.9 billion US dollars, up 33.5% year-on-year.

From January to December, the value of imports and exports between China and Latin America amounted to $448.2 billion, an increase of 41.5% year-on-year, accounting for 7.4% of the total value of China’s imports and exports. Export trade value was US$229.1 billion, up 51.9% year-on-year; the import trade value was 219.1 billion US dollars, up 32.0% year-on-year.

From January to December, the value of import and export trade between China and Oceania was $263.4 billion, up 34.8% year-on-year, accounting for 4.4% of the total value of China’s imports and exports. Export trade value was US$80.7 billion, up 24.5% year-on-year; the import trade value was 182.7 billion US dollars, up 39.8% year-on-year.
