Kalmar to deliver three Eco Reachstackers to North China to help Port of Yantai improve efficiency, sustainability and financial flexibility

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has received an order for three Kalmar Eco Reachstackers from Yantai Port in China. These are the first Eco reachstackers delivered by Kalmar to a customer in the northern region of China. Globally, Kalmar has delivered over 450 Eco reachstackers to date. The contract, which was concluded through Kalmar’s local dealer, Yantai Haotong Machinery Equipment Co. Ltd, also includes comprehensive training for maintenance technicians and equipment operators. The order was recorded in Cargotec’s order intake in the second quarter of 2022 with delivery scheduled for July 2022.

The port of Yantai, located in the north of the Shandong Peninsula, is an essential node of the maritime silk road of the 21st century. Its core business includes Ro-Ro passenger logistics, container and pipeline transportation, liquefied petroleum products and bulk cargo. Yantai Port has a well-developed hinterland economy, in which the export-oriented economy is developing rapidly. It enjoys convenient road and rail transportation, superior collection and distribution capabilities, and is directly connected with more than 100 ports in more than 70 countries and regions.

Kalmar and the Port of Yantai have enjoyed a good working relationship since the 1990s. The Port of Yantai’s existing fleet consists solely of Kalmar products, including reachstackers, empty container handlers, forklifts and loaders by the top. The new Kalmar Eco Reachstackers will join the current fleet of over 20 machines on a rental solution to further improve customer operational efficiency.

Units to be delivered to Yantai Port will be equipped with the necessary hardware to enable connection to the Kalmar Insight performance management tool, which will provide the Yantai Port team with access to real-time data such as hours operating time, fuel consumption, idle time. , production time, distance traveled and other key operational indicators. This will allow them to track equipment performance and usage, manage maintenance activities, and ultimately help them improve their operations.
