China announced its decision to make Hainan a pilot free trade zone while gradually exploring and steadily promoting the establishment of a CTF with Chinese characteristics in 2018.

As a major hub along the 21st century maritime silk road, Hainan has utilized favorable supporting policies and its unique advantages as China’s largest free trade area and first free port. exchange since the founding of New China to pioneer the country’s high-level opening up. at the top.

On Thursday, a sub-forum with the theme “The Belt and the Road: A New Cooperative Development Practice” will be held at this year’s Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) annual conference in Boao, a coastal city. from Hainan.

Forum participants are expected to summarize new progress, which has laid a solid foundation for economic recovery in countries and regions along the route under the BRI. They will discuss future cooperation to build a “Green Silk Road”.

The tropical island has benefited from the enthusiasm of the international community to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

In 2021 alone, it recorded a total foreign investment inflow of over US$3.5 billion in actual use, up 16.2% year-on-year. Meanwhile, 1,936 foreign-funded enterprises have been newly established in the province, an increase of about 92.6 percent year on year, the provincial commerce department said.

Hainan should take advantage of its industrious construction of FTP and move towards its comprehensive and high-level development.

During the inspection tour in Hainan, Xi called on the island to develop tourism, modern services, high-tech industries and high-yield tropical agriculture, and speed up the construction of a modern industrial system.
